The Best Places To Visit In Cornwall
Our Wonderful Cornish Road Trip

A fantastic selection of must-see places to visit in Cornwall, perfect for those exploring this gorgeous part of the country for the first time.

Mousehole

A charming fishing village with a small harbour that has a narrow entrance—hence the name.

Tip: As you approach Mousehole from Newlyn, you’ll find free parking along the road before you reach the village. It’s a good idea to park here and walk in, as old fishing villages like Mousehole were built long before cars and typically have narrow streets with limited parking.

Porthcurno Beach and The Minack Theatre

Places to visit in Cornwall

Porthcurno boasts a stunning white sand beach, while The Minack Theatre, perched above, is an open-air marvel carved into the cliff face.

Tip: Rub some sand between your fingers—it feels rougher than usual. This is because it’s leftover from the clay works, making it very white and not sea-smoothed.

The Minack Theatre is a true gem, carved into the rock of the cliffside. The amphitheatre’s seating overlooks the stage, with the open ocean as a breathtaking backdrop. The entire setting is surrounded by beautiful gardens, making it a must-visit spot among the best places to visit in Cornwall.

Lands End

Drive to Sennen Cove and park there. This charming fishing village sits beside a stunning beach, and from here, it’s just a 2km walk to Land’s End. As you stroll along the rugged coastline, take time to gaze out to sea. The ocean currents around the headland bring plankton to the surface, attracting fish. If you’re lucky, you might spot a dolphin or even a basking shark, which feeds on plankton.

After exploring, follow the B3306 Coast Road towards St Ives. This route is twisty and narrow in places, but the scenery is worth it. The road’s winding path follows the ancient boundaries of a Bronze Age field system, giving you a glimpse of a landscape that feels timeless, with rolling hills inland and the ocean stretching out to the west.

St Just

Places to visit in Cornwall

A charming village with a vibrant artists’ community.

Tip: Art lovers shouldn’t miss the Kurt Jackson Foundation Gallery, where you can explore the works of one of Cornwall’s most renowned contemporary artists. The village also has several other galleries and studios, making it a delightful destination for those who appreciate local art and craftsmanship. While you’re there, take some time to wander through the historic streets, soak in the village’s unique atmosphere, and perhaps even chat with some of the resident artists.

Botallack tin mines

A fascinating historic site that showcases Cornwall’s rich tin mining heritage. Part of the Poldark series was filmed here, adding to its allure. The Botallack Mine is dramatically perched on cliffs overlooking the ocean, offering breathtaking views and a glimpse into the region’s industrial past.

Zennor

Places to visit in Cornwall

A secluded village with just a few houses, some farms, a pub, and a church, Zennor offers a peaceful retreat from the busier parts of Cornwall.

The Tinner’s Arms, a 13th-century pub, is the perfect place to end your trip, offering great food in a historic setting. For a memorable finish, take the track beside the pub to Zennor Head, where you can watch the sunset over the ocean—an unforgettable experience.
