Wildlife success in Cornwall. Hedgehogs are sadly becoming a rarer sight. Over the last five years we’ve been trying to make their lot at Tehidy a bit better. We’ve put out several hedgehog houses around site, in tucked away positions where they have safe shelter. We’ve also set up feeding stations for them and make sure water is available in drier weather. As part of our park management we use no pesticides. Our hedgerows with their wild borders provide shelter and food supply for many species hedgehogs included. We’ve noticed more evidence of hedgehogs around site and so we set up a trail camera by one of the feeding stations and loved the results. Our hedgehog numbers have increased hugely in the last few years. This is one reason we have gained the top Green Tourism Gold Award.
