St Ives to River Cove
St Ives to River Cove follows the beautiful rugged Cornish coast path. This was filmed in January and but it is lovely at any time of the year. It’s a circular walk starting in St Ives and heading south to River Cove, then inland through the valley and back over the field paths. At 8 miles or about 11km long it takes about 4 hours. But allow time to just take in the gorgeous views. The islands you can see just offshore from River Cove are the ones shown in Spring Watch 2020 and often have many seals resting on them.
Start at Porthmear Beach in St Ives. The beach car park is at TR261JZ. About 13km.
Head south along the coast path, keeping to the coastal path at any junction.
After about 5.5km you’ll get to a bridge over a stream and after crossing it take the path leading inland up the valley to Trevail Mill.
Take the path into the mill grounds (over the cattle grid) and follow the sign on the left into the fields. The path leads across several fields and joins Burthallan Lane.
Follow the lane onto the road, keeping left at main junctions, down hill to Porthmear Beach.
