Find your Tehidy Holiday

Enjoy holidays in Cornwall…in Poldark country!

The BBC’s adaptation of Poldark beamed Cornwall’s natural beauty to a prime time TV audience in the millions. From rugged landscapes to breathtaking seascapes, the drama showcased all that is great about this magical county.

And for those seeking holidays in Cornwall in that same environment, within a stone’s throw of those now famous film locations, then Tehidy Holiday Park is the place for your break in Cornwall. Our holiday park is perfectly located on Cornwall’s north coast and is near to many of those locations, including St Agnes Head and Botallack, Owles, Crowns and Levant Mines.

Being based in central Cornwall means you can head east or west with ease in your quest to retrace Ross Poldark’s steps!

But where exactly was Poldark filmed?

There are seven main locations across Cornwall that were used in 2015 (for the second series which will be broadcast in the Autumn of 2016).

St Agnes Head – 7 miles from Tehidy

St Agnes Head was the natural choice for Poldark, with its engine houses on the dramatic Cornwall coastline. This area doubles as Nampara Valley in the series.

Gunwalloe – 16 miles from Tehidy

This beautiful spot on the Lizard peninsular was home to several scenes. The beach at Church Cove was where the shipwreck scenes were filmed.

Botallack to Levant mines – 25+ miles from Tehidy

This really is a must see for any holidays in Cornwall, whether you’re on the Poldark trail or not. Levant Mine was the setting for Tressiders Rolling Mill while Owles and Crowns near Botallack depicted Poldark’s Wheal Leisure mine.

Charlestown – 28 miles from Tehidy

Anyone who knows Cornwall won’t be surprised to learn that Charlestown, with its impressive tall ships, was used in the filming of Poldark.

Porthgwarra – 28 miles from Tehidy

Heading further west still, Porthgwarra is a beautiful little cove, boasting clear blue waters. The little beach café here stayed open until the early house… serving pasties to the crew, of course!

Porthcothan – 32 miles from Tehidy

This stunning bay on the North Cornwall coastline was used extensively. Look out for views over the Camel Estuary. Porthcothan is also used to portray Nampara Cove.

St Breward – 35 miles from Tehidy

Poldark’s home, Nampara was filmed in this pretty North Cornwall village, as well as some of the miner’s cottages. Other scenes filmed here included a duel when the sun came up right en cue!

So, if you want to follow the Poldark trail, and follow in the footsteps of the man who set pulses racing, then holidays in Cornwall at Tehidy mean you’re in the perfect place to discover it all.
