Cornwall has been famous for tin and copper mining since ancient times and has several world Heritage Sites. To preserve and celebrate this rich heritage pockets of the Duchy have been nominated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Redruth is known as the capital of Cornish Mining. Tehidy Holiday Park is set mid way between Redruth and the coast so we are in easy reach of many heritage sites, including the free ‘Heartlands’ World Heritage Site gateway in Pool, only minutes away. The structures left behind from this by gone age add drama and interest to the beautiful landscape. Several cycle trails also take advantage of the routes used, by horse and cart, to move the rich spoils, these include the ‘Tramways‘ coast to coast trail from Portreath to Devoran, the ‘Camel Trail’ from Padstow to Bodmin and beyond and the ‘Great Flat Lode Trail’ around Carn Brea.
