Take the A30 to Hayle, it's the first roundabout you come to. Go staright over - 3rd exit to St Ives. At the next roundabout turn right to Hayle. After approx 1/2 mile turn rightand follow the road to St Erth. Just before the bridge there is a lane to the left and parking spaces on the right in front of the church. If you walk across the bridge there is a path on the left that follows the river upstream. A play area is just off to the right of the path. At the small bridge, after approx 3/4 mile there is a lane that takes you back to the church where you parked. Don't head straight back as the best of the river side walk is yet to come. You can carry on for miles through lovely countryside. There are a few spots along the way where the river widens into shallow shingle covered pools, these are favourite spots for children to get in to have a thoroughly enjoyable splash around. A towel and spare pair of clothes is a good idea as it's a bit of a walk back to the car.
