Tehidy Holiday Park is close to some of the best preserved and spectacular mining heritage sites. We are even on the edge of a World Heritage Site! Heritage trails for cyclists and walkers are numerous, we haven't explored half of them yet! Mining heritage is part of the landscape in obvious and not so obvious ways. Ventilation stacks and engine houses scatter the countryside, there's usually one in sight wherever you are. Some settings are truely spectacular, perched on cliff tops above the ocean.

The King Harry Ferry is a chain link car and passenger ferry that runs The Roseland Peninsular and is the perfect way to visit St Mawes, saving a 26mile road route from Truro. St Mawes is a stunning village set above the Fal and has a castle, built by Henry 8th overlooking the estury mouth, as does the one in Falmouth. The ferry crosses the Fal Estuary from below Trelissick Gardens. Trelissick gardens are a wonderful place to visit and have a lovely walk along the picturesque Fal Estaury. You can also get to this beautiful spot by ferry from Truro which stops at Trelissick on it's way to St Mawes and Falmouth, this is a passenger ferry only, so not suitable if you want to explore the Roseland by car. King Harry ferry is only 25 minutes fro Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

The Hurlers standing stones are near the village of Minions on the Southern edge of Bodmin Moor. The lovely walk from Minions takes in the Hurlers and other standing stones and natural rock formations. On a sunny day they look spectacular and on a misty day they look 'other worldy' The Hurlers, legend has it, are the remains of men who played Cornish Hurling, on a Sunday, and were transformed to stone as a punishment. The Hurlers and Minions are approximately 35 minutes from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

Kennall Vale is a Nature Reserve near the village of Ponsonooth on the Redruth to Falmouth Road. A wonderful walk takes you through a beautiful wooded valley full of wildlife and history. Following the main track through the woods leads you past leats, a now flooded quarry and concrete bunkers, you'll also see railway line set in the ground once in a while, it all seems very out of place amongst the nature. The beauty that surrounds you has reclaimed the valley from it's industrial past when it was an explosive manufacturing site, tucked away in the valley for safety. On the far side of the valley the path takes you past a series of huge water mills, not on the valley bottom but part way up the valley side well above the river????? It does make sense, they are here to avoid damage from flooding, ehind them a retaining wall feeds water from further upstream to the mills and sluices allow it to be controlled. The mills are derelict but some massive wheel structures and gear work still exist. An explosion in 1800's blew 5 of the buildings apart, it was so powerful the roof of one building was found over a mile away! Kennel Vale is only 20 minutes from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

Green Bay, a wonderful beach, near Porthcurno and the Minnack Threatre, also famous for Logan Rock. The 80 tonne granite boulder balanced on the cliffs. It has been replaced after the navy moved it in the 1820's to show what they could do, but villagers complained as it was a famous landmark, so they put it back again. The beach is a wonderful stretch of sand. The stretch of coastal footpath from Porthcurno to Lamorna is beautiful and takes in some unspoilt fishing villages. Logan Rock is only 35 minutes from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

The Cheesewring rock formation is found on Bodmin Moor close to the Hurlers and Minions stone circles. The bronze age granite monuments found here have an ancient feel. On a sunny day they stand out in the landscape and on a misty day they take on an other worldy feel. The Cheeswring is approximately 35 minutes from tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

Bodmin Moor is a wonderful place for a gentle moorland walk. Brown Willy, Rough Tor and Showery Tor make an excellent family walk of about 4 miles in total. From Camelford take the Tregoodwell road to the car park at the end of the road, at grid ref 138819. The path to Showery Tor, over the bridge, is very obvious and you can see Brown Willy beyond, the path is fairly clear here too. Return the same route. Wadebridge is approximately 35 minutes from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

Tehidy Country Park has 3 main entrances and free car parks. The woods have a series of colour coded foothpaths and cycle routes leading around them. The main entrance has a cafe and is right by the lakes and streams, and nature reserve area. The local entrance leads through a spinny, by the golf course, into the main wood. Across the road from the car park is a path that lead across the fields and through a lovely wooded valley to Portreath and the beach. Tehidy Country Park is just on the other side of Illogan village from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall.

St Ives is a picture postcard village with beautiful beaches and harbour. The Tate St Ives is the world famous home to work of local, national and international artists. The light and colours of the Cornish landscape have long attracted artists to the area. St Ives is only 25 minutes from Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall. For a spectacular way to visit St Ives try the park and ride, it's a small branch train that runs from St Erth to St Ives along the cliffs above the beaches and has stunning view of the ocean. Take it all the way to St Ives and then on your return hop off to explore and walk along the coastal footpath to the next station and get a later train. The perfect way to explore the coast and take it easy.
