Tehidy Holiday Park is a registered CO aware camp site

by Richard 14. January 2012 11:50

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have launched a Carbon Monoxide awareness campaign and have asked campsites in Cornwall to sign up to it. Tehidy Holiday Park has. All accommodation that uses gas already has a Carbon Monoxide and Fire alarm fitted as standard. We also state in our Terms and Conditions and Site Rules, which are given to all visitors, that BBQs or similar open fire sources are not allowed near any form of accommodation, including tents and should be at a safe distance, as they are a Carbon Monoxide source. We have never had an incident on site and want all our visitors to have a happy and safe holiday.

The perfect way to see the night sky

by Richard 13. December 2011 08:26

Our low light pollution lighting and incredibly low pollution levels mean you get an amazing night sky. 2011 is finishing with the last big meteor shower of the year. The Geminids, which show up to 120 meteors per hour, will give a fantastic show on 13th and 14th of December. The question is how to watch them, from site or huddled in a blanket on the beach, watching over the ocean. Some choices are just too difficult.

Cottages given a make over

by Richard 8. December 2011 09:34

Our ever poular cottages have been given a 'make over' as part of our continuous effort to give excellent vallue for money. Having a family holiday is such an important part of life and a chance to 'refresh', we know this from first hand experience. One of the most common bits of feedback we get is we offer 'such good value for money' and being in what has been voted regularly over the years as the most poular tourist destination in UK - Cornwall, it's a great combination.

Wigwams are a great success

by Richard 29. November 2011 11:38

Our Tehidy wigwams arrived in Cornwall and were set up for the start of October. Since then they have been busy. Families for short breaks, a weekend away, longer visits too. The unanimous opinion was 'Wow' they are fantastic. The wigwams just look as if they really belong on their pitches. The new cooking shelter has proved a big success too, it will be a great addition for campers for many years to come.

Hedgehog rescue

by Richard 3. November 2011 08:26

With Autumn well under way our hedgehogs are going about their business of feeding up for the colder months. Sometimes the changeable weather catches them out and they can need a bit of help. 'Spike' was low on energy and needed a good feed to get him going again. If you find a hedgehog in need, eg out in daylight, slow moving, not curling up, or running,  when approached, - try these simple things, they could make the difference.

  • A box in a warm dry place, with a towel, so they can burrow and keep cozy
  • A small dish of 'wet' type cat or dog food - not biscuits
  • Build a cozy hedgehog house, filled with straw and leaves for their release after a few days
  • check with your local vet if not sure, they are usually very good with advice

by Richard 30. September 2011 12:22

The Tehidy Wigwams in Cornwall are now in use. The picnic benches have been specially made (out of rustic chunky wood) and delivered. This morning I had to take a photo as they look so beautiful in the morning sun. The cooking area should be up and running in another week. Photos will follow.

Glamping Wigwams in Cornwall

Wigwam Holidays on our David Bellamy Conservation Awards Model Holiday Park, in Cornwall

by Richard 29. September 2011 11:23

Our beautiful Wigwams are having a good christening. Guests are arriving in. We've just had our David Bellamy 2011 report back and have GOLD again and have been called a model park for the David Bellamy Conservation Awards. Our green credentials have been given another boost. Tehidy does have an enviable setting, in a wooded valley only 2 miles from the sandy beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan and approximately half way between St. Ives and St. Agnes. The sheltered setting means you have the best of both worlds, a lovely escape and easy access to our stunning coast, not to mention all the other features such as the countryside, gardens, cycle and walking trails that bring people here.

The Tehidy Wigwams were chosen out of the many glamping products for a range of reasons, but the key ones are:-

  • They are superbly made and fit beautifully into our setting
  • Their eco credentials include - made from sustainable products - insulated to the same degree as a modern house, for a warm cozy experience - double glazed windows for warmth and ventilation - this means heating requirements are minimal to have a beautifully warm and cozy interior - low energy lighting - low energy fridge freezer - low energy flat screen TV with freeview - a long life span and easily maintained - made in the UK, which helps them have low carbon footprint.
  • The size and quality of the fixtures and fittings make them ideal for families and couples alike.
  • Very comfortable seating and beds
  • Electric supply and spare sockets for convenience
  • A covered porch for hanging coats in and leaving wellies/ shoes outside

Of course we have added some of the extras which incluide

  • fridge freezer
  • microwave
  • kettle
  • TV
  • decking for sitting out on
  • picnic benches
  • BBQ
  • covered cooking shelter
